Alison's Story
Alison Powell is an ordinary New Zealander who did an extraordinary thing by helping to save her husband's life.
Alison recognised that her husband Richard had gone into cardiac arrest when he collapsed at their home one evening. Alison had trained in CPR and the confidence this gave her enabled her to make a real difference. She immediately phoned 111 and began to administer CPR with the support of the St John Ambulance Communications Centre call taker until the ambulance officers arrived. Her swift and decisive actions helped her husband to make a full recovery from his cardiac arrest.
